Fong Liu, who sings in our ensemble, will give a talk as well as sing period songs from 20th century China. She will cover Chinese marching music, 1930’s Shanghai jazz, traditional urban folk songs, patriotic songs, Cultural Revolution songs, Madam Mao’s opera, rock and roll, contemporary and pop songs.
